TOO SPECIAL TO BE ABANDONED

TEXT: ZECHARIAH 2:8-9
"For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you; for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye. For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me".

PROPOSITIONAL STATEMENT:
God's Divine presence and protection is guaranteed for all His beloved Children, such as you're. In all their journeys, he is certainly always with them, and does not permit anyone to touch them and do them any harm (1 Chronicles16:20-22).

INTRODUCTION:
God designed every human being to be in community, to have friends, and to be in relationships from the beginning (Genesis 2:18). He never created man to be disengaged from association. Again, God hates any kind of cheating against His elects. The reason being that His elects are engraved and endowed with His divine immunity ' touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm". Glory to God! Imaging the case of Abraham/Sarah and Abimelech the king of Gerar (Genesis 20:1-18). Abraham was too special  to be abandoned, cheated and deprived of his right and privileges.

DIVISIONS:
1. Abandon any factor that factorises an abandonment. Such factors could be in form of worries, complaints, disputation, indolence, negative formations that maybe inimical to your survival in the community of the saints (1Peter 5:7, Matthew 6:30-33, Galatians 5:19)

2.Trust God in the face of abandonment (Deut. 3:18-22, Philippians 4:6-7). Until you throw away the garment of care, worries you're wearing, you maybe weighed down.

3. Learn to seriously take God by His word. His words are Yea and Amen. He had already said that He will not forsake you, and definitely He will not (Hebrews 13:5, Joel 2:27, Deut. 31:8, 11Timothy 4:16). Though, Apostle Paul was deserted at a point in time, yet, God was with him. You may be surrounded by unfriendly friends, inconsistent fellows, yet you're not abandoned, God is with you. Hallelujah!

4. Let God dwell with you always (John 1:14,15:4-5, Leviticus 26:11-12). God's tabernacle will always be with you. Amen!

5. In the face of any attempt of abandonment, remember the persuasive word of Apostle Paul in Romans 8:38-39, that nothing shall separate you  from the love of God. That's the truth and nothing but the whole truth.

6. Remember that God cannot lie. Whatever He says He will do, that He will do brethren (Titus 1:2 , Numbers 23:29)

7. You're too special to be abandoned because you're the CHOSEN of the Lord God (1Peter 2:4, Psalm 34:17-20), therefore, He will always hear and answer your cry. Just learn how to cry - Jeremiah33:3, Psalm50:15.

8. Depend on God's grace, not on self strength, self-defense, self righteousness, not even on your spiritual gifts. Just grace alone is our pride (Ephesians 2:8-9, 11 Corinthians 12:9, Romans:6 and 11Tim. 2:1).

9. Know that you're not forgotten and abandoned if you continue in Jesus Christ and in doing His will. He can then hear your cry, answer, come down to you and heal your land (11 Chronicles 7:14, Isaiah 49:15, 54:10). Brethren, I want you to know very clearly that with our God who made heaven and the earth there is mutability of obstacles, but not with Divine constancy (John 13:1,14:18, Joshua 1:5).

APPLICATION and CONCLUSION: Brethren, God who has brought us thus far can not afford to abandon us. He is faithful, kind, loving, firm and consistent. His promises are Yea and Amen (1Corinthians 1:20). Surely, He will not cast us off, nor forsake us, for we are His valuable inheritance (Psalm 94:14).

PRAYER:
I stand in the capacity of the covenant of my calling as a Pastor with God's Divine presence by anointing upon me to declare and decree that whoever and whatever that stand up to talk you down to a level of inferiority complex so as to reduce your originality, should fail, falter and fall in  the name of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
Arise, and shine for your light has come. Can't you see His glory risen upon you? It is risen upon you. Enjoy the Bliss of the day in Jesus mighty name. AMEN!!!

HOPE FOR THE FALLEN TREE

TEXT: JOB 14:7-9 (NKJV)
"For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender shoots will not cease.
Though its root may grow old in the earth, and its stump may die in the ground,
Yet at the scent of water it will bud and bring forth branches like a plant."

PROPOSITIONAL STATEMENT:
Your extremity is certainly not the end of your life. Though weeping may endure for a night, joy will surely come in the morning (Psalm 30:5). Your state will not be like this for ever (Psalm 103:9).

INTRODUCTION:
A common saying that the down fall of a man is not the end of his life, holds sway for the reality of consistent and persistent hope in God, despite the seasons of our testing as  believers in Christ. No matter how hard the testing season is, there will always be a beaming light at the end of the tunnel.

DIVISIONS:
1. There is hope for the hopeless (Job14:7). Considering the imagery of being cut down here, one would have thought and concluded that every  hope for the survival of that tree is gone. Why? Because it was cut down. Just like Job's friends thought, concluded and chided him that his own is finished, because of his predicaments---the lose of wealth, the lose of his children and the lose of his health (Job 11:13-20). Zophar the Naamathite, one of JOB's friends certainly knew that there is hope for Job (Job11:18-19). In Leviticus 26:3-13 stated that obedience to doing the word of God and keeping his commandments produces abundance of rain and peace for the people of God.

2.There is hope for a change ( Job14:114; 13:15). It takes determination and consistent trust in God to wait for your time of change. Do you know something? The harder the challenge, the stronger is the outstretch of God's hands towards you for deliverance. No wander, King David boldly stated in Psalm 23:4 that , "Yea, though I walk through the Valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil...". He was boldly hopeful that he was not going to be swallowed by the shadow of death because he believed that God's presence, his rod and staff are with him and this was his comfort. What a wonderful man of Earnest expectations. I don't know how and what you're passing through right now. But what I do know is that if you're hopeful, and truly and firmly trust in the God of heaven who rules the earth in his sovereignty, you will celebrate your victory over any dark hour of your life. Do you know why ? Because God will not leave you alone in your predicaments. Hear His word through prophet Isaiah 43:2 which has this to say, " When thou passet through the waters, I will be with; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee". Carry the name of Jesus with you, anywhere you go, and yours will be a testimony.

3. There is hope for the righteous. By the way, who is the righteous? Is it one that speaks in tongues, yet, hates his brother, sister, neighbour, and even making enemies? No! The righteous is a man, a woman, a boy or a girl who maintains and conforms to high standard of morality and spirituality ( Proverbs14:32, Genesis 49:18-19, Psalm 16:11). The righteous has the assurance of deliverance from every evil work (11 Timothy 4:18).

ILLUSTRATION: Once upon a time, there was a Christian woman who was a Secretary typist in an office at a university. She was hotly illicitly advanced constantly by her boss in the office, but she kept turning down the boss. So, one day the boss facilitated her removal from work. Very fervent a Christian as she was, she immediately rushed to her pastor with a sack letter and presented it to her pastor with this word "Man of God see the reward of my tenacity in Christ's word and what it has earned me". Receiving the letter from her, the pastor said to her, sister go and trim up  the light of your hope and be ready to return to your place soon. She believed the word spoken by the pastor, and the following week she was called by the panel of enquiry in her work place. After all said and done, she was called back to her work. Hope does not make ashame. Truly, there is hope for the righteous.

4. There is hope for the Barren (1 Samuel 1:12-19, Genesis 21:1-3, 17:15-16). God is God of fruitfulness. Fruitfulness is one of the glories of your destiny (Genesis 1:28, 9:1,7).

5. There is hope for a captive. Esther and her nationals, including her uncle, Mordecai,  were carried captive to Persians, but even in captivity in the sight of God, and because of her unshakable hope in the God of Israel she was highly cherished and favoured. She became a Queen in the land of her captivity, just like Daniel and Joseph (Esther 2:8-9, Genesis 41:40-46, Daniel 2:46-49, Amos 9:14).

APPLICATION:
Been drawn to the footnote of life because of the reason of your current encounter with your complicated situation. Let me assure you that if you rekindle your lamp of faith, trust and hope you  have in the Lord God of your salvation, your testimony will come speedily. Remember that we are saved by hope (Romans 8:24).

Conclusion: Stop leaving as one that has no hope. Just lay hold upon the hope and be hopeful. The fallen tree will rise again.
-------------+++++
Prayer points:
1.Oh God cause my fallen tree to sprout again and to yield.

 2. Lord, let not my tender branch cease to yield.

3. Let my change come, so that my enemies maybe put to shame.

4. Givee me the grace to be righteous and remain righteous continually.

5. Make me fruitful in all its ramifications----- socially, spiritually, psychologically, philosophically, economically and avocationally.

God bless you richly as you remain in the Lord for your salvation and reconciliation to God.

HOW TO WITHSTAND THE STORMS OF LIFE.

HOW TO WITHSTAND THE STORMS OF LIFE.

TEXT: Psalm 107:28-29
"Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
He maketh the storm  a calm, so that the waves thereof are still" (Psalm107:28-29).

Prepositional Statement:
Life is full of challenging storms. This message aims at strengthening you to withstand every storm that comes your way. It could be storms  of sin, satanic buffeting, jealousy, hatred, envy, disease, despondency, confusion, faithlessness, procrastination, backsliding, indolence, etc. Whatever kind of storm it may be, you can successfully overcome.

Introduction:
This message will open your eyes to see that you're bigger than the storm, problem, affliction, sickness that trouble your life. For the God of possibility who makes impossibilities possible have you in the hollow of His hands. No one and nothing possesses capability to snatch you out of His hands. Not even poverty can snatch you out of His hands (Proverbs 3:16, Psalm 119:109). How can you confidently overcome or withstand the storms of your life?

Divisions:
1. By making God the storm calmer to be your cover (Isaiah 4:6).

2. By  making God who has way in the storm to be your refuge and rock (Nahum 1:3 Isaiah25:4).

3. By inviting Jesus into your boat for you not to be alone and the storm will cease on your life's voyage (Mark 4:37,Luke 8:23).

4. By developing an invincible faith against fear as you journey in life (Matthew 8:26, Psalm 65:7,107:29).

5. By  possessing divine wings of courage to challenge the storm confronting your life (Psalm 55:6-8).

6. By being helpless in the hands of your creator ( Isaiah 25:4-5).

7. By living within God's shadow and in His secret place ( Psalm 91:1-16).

8. By constantly desiring God's House punctually (Psalm27:4-6,23:6).

7. By being still and call upon the Lord as He directed (Psalm89:8-9, Exodus 14:14, Psalm 46:10,50:15 and Jeremiah 33:3).

Application:
Dear brethren, are you right now passing through any storm in your life that has bottlenecked your faith? Are you despondent, dejected and depressed that you can no longer move on life's journey?

Remember, Jesus is the shelter in the time of storm. Lean on Him and move forward. What is frightening you right now shall soon be a testimony. Challenge your storm and it will cease in the mighty name of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. God bless you. JESUS IS LORD!

TOPIC: THE CHRISTIAN'S HOPE (1)

TEXT: Titus 2:13-14
"Looking for that blessed HOPE, and the  glorious appearing of the great God and our saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."

PREFACE:
Living in the midst and moment of uncertainty, confusion, crisis and terrible pandemic, one may tend to lose hope, courage and fortitude. But then, is all hope lost when we certainly know that our Redeemer is yet alive and that He holds the whole world in His hands? No! We can't lose hope, for He is readily alive and has not abandoned us , even, in a second. That's why the Christian's hope is chosen as a topic for our bible study series, in May, 2020. May you be richly blessed as you follow me on this lane.

The key Truth:
The Christian's hope is a practical confidence he or she has in the rule and purpose of God, which find their  goal in the return of Jesus Christ at the end of the age.

THE PROMISES TO GOD'S PEOPLE:
GOD IS WORKING in history. The Christian is confident in the righteousness of God, which is working through the events of this world towards the final glory that must eventually follow the ministry and suffering of Jesus Christ. It is His personal return that will usher in the new age.
Resting on the predictions of the Old Testament, the promises of Christ and the conviction of the Apostles, the Christian is assured of the sovereign control of God to the end of time (Isaiah 11:1-9).

 THE FULFILLMENT OF GOD'S PURPOSES:
GOD'S purposes will certainly be fulfilled, no doubt about that. Let us hinge our faith on His unfailing purposes based on promises. Evidentially, the preaching of the Apostles demonstrated the Christian belief that the return of Jesus, to make all things new, would be the ultimate fulfilment of His work of salvation.
For the believer, the appearance of Christ will come as the longed-for conclusion and perfection of the salvation already won through the sacrifice of the cross, hallelujah! Amen! (Acts 3:17-21,Romans 8:18-23).

THE DEFEAT OF GOD'S ENEMIES:
The outcome of the conflict between good and evil is already settled. How do I know? Yes, it's settled at the death and resurrection  of Jesus Christ which subsequently ensured the defeat of sin, death and all the powers of evil including corona virus and its efficacies.
But it will not be until Christ's public and powerful return in glory that God's  righteousness will be finally upheld. God's victory will then be evident to all (Philippians 2:9-11, 1Corinthians 15:24-26).

A LIVING HOPE:
The hope of every Christ's believer is a living hope. This hope is never faltered. It cannot be extinguished by any power, circumstance, situation, harassment, turmoil and intimidation. The reason is that, it is Christ who fills the Christian with the confident expectation the Bible calls 'hope'. All the New Testament passages which describe the last things focus their attention on Him.
It is in the resurrection of Jesus that we find particular encouragement. Our living hope is that like Him we too shall rise from death to enjoy the new heaven and the new earth from which death and decay are banished. Christ's followers await a new body, incorruptible and powerful. Glory to God! This body will relate to the old existence, but Paul tells us that it will be significantly different ( 1Peter 1:3-5, 1Corinthians 15:20-23, 51-55).

A STEADFAST HOPE:
Christian's hope is a steadfast hope. Unfortunately majority of so many professed Christians today are not Christians because this virtue of Christian steadfastness is not seen in them . How can a so called Christian easily punt off his Christian faith because he cannot endure sound teaching, rebuke or reproof. No unteachable person is a Christian. Christians are Christ's disciples disciplined for righteousness. The quality of christian hope is that it imparts courage and patience for the present. It is not a vague desire for better times, nor is it a resigned and passive submission to life's problems while we wait for a new tomorrow.
I want you to know that the hope we are talking about here, is that which is centred in Christ and it has kept the Church through the ages during persecution and hardship. It is the hope that demolishes fear, intimidation, enticement and that transforms pessimism into godly and practical optimism (1Thessalonians 1:3, Romans 8:24-25).

A PURIFYING HOPE:
Our hope as Christians is hope in the return of Jesus Christ in the future which should have a deep effect on the way we live now. Ours is not the hope of the curious who look only for the details of signs and dates while remaining detached and unaffected.
To the Christian, Christ's return is a reality. As a result of this, let your priorities, decisions, and lifestyles be inevitably shaped by the thought of His sure coming. Do you have a score to settle with God, your neighborhood or intra score? Please, do it before it is too late. He said he is coming back, and I know it's true and it is nearer than before. Hurry up. Purify yourself, be spotlessly clean (1John 3:2-3, Hebrews 10:23-25, Jude 24-25 and Revelation 22:11-12, 20:12).

POSTSCRIPT: CHRISTIAN HISTORY INDICATES THAT THOSE WHO HAVE THEIR EYES ON THE NEXT LIFE ARE THE ONES WHO ARE MOST EFFECTIVE IN THIS. LET THERE BE HOPE AGAINST HOPE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND HAPPY NEW MONTH OF HOPE FOR GREATNESS AND IMPACT.

GOD OF THE MOUNTAIN

TEXT: 1KINGS20:23-27

OCCASION: SUNDAY DEVOTIONAL SERMON

PROPOSITIONAL STATEMENT:
That God of the mountain is God that owns the valleys. He as God can lift from the valleys to the mountains. It does not matter how deep the valleys maybe.

INTRODUCTION:
In this Sunday service, it is my sincere desire to lift your soul from every stupor wherein you're. This Topic becomes vital and imperative for me to share with you this period. This is because we are in the period global confusions, hunger, all kinds of deprivations, that urgently calls for our faith that undoubtedly beckons for divine intervention and attractions.

 DIVISIONS:
1. WHAT IS REALLY GOD'S MOUNTAIN?
God's mountain is technically called the mountain of Jehovah or the mountain of the Lord. God's mountain is where His Laws reside, given and received. For example, mountains Horeb and Sinai (Exodus 3:1-10). From this passage, it is very clear that the God of the mountain is the commissioning God. He is the burning fire who mercifully did not consume the bush. God who turns the inadequacy of man to adequacy (Exodus 3:11, Jeremiah 1:6. He is God who deserves our services and worship (John4:24-25).
God's mountain is a camping ground for spiritual rest (Exodus 18:5,3:1$12). God's mountain is a mountain to be and it calls for enough spiritual preparation (1Kings19:5-8). God's mountain is a place of divine revelation and interaction with God. It is a place of divine communication and documentation (Exodus 34:28).
God's mountain is a place of divine transfiguration (Exodus 34:29-35,Matthew 17:2-5).
God's mountain depicts Got the mountain WHO is the one that owns the valleys, Sun and Moon. Sun represent the day and Moon represent the night. He owns both the day and night. No wonder, Horeb means sun and Sinai means moon (Exodus 19:1ff).

2. GREAT BLESSINGS ON GOD'S MOUNTAIN:

A. On God's mountain shall the springs out water to quench our thirst (Exodus 17:6, Psalm78:15, 1Cor10:4). Yes,it's a mountain of Jehovah's grace in action.

B. God's mountain is where a still small voice is heard. Of course, it is a directional voice (1Kings 19:5-8,Isaiah 30:21).

C. On God's mountain rests His glory and Revelation cum vision (Matthew 5:1, 23, Ezekiel  1:1-3, 8:3-4). Let us go to this mountain. It is better to be there than being in the valleys.

D. On the mountain of the Lord is our help sourced (psalm121:1-2).

3. PREREQUISITES FOR CLIMBING THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD:

A. Living and walking in uprightness -Psalm15:2.

B. Speak the Truth and take no bribe. Don't even give bribe (Isaiah 33:15,psalm119:37).

C. Be righteous and walk in righteousness (Isaiah 33:15-16).

D. Wash your hands and heart clean and pure (Psalm 24:4,Matthew 5:8).

E. Learn to condemn evil as it is and do no evil to anyone (Psalm15:4,Esther 3:2).

F. Do not engage yourself in backbiting, gossiping, peddling rumours, tail bearing and any act of spiritual hypocrisy that leads to spiritual dryness and stupor (Psalm15:3, Exodus 23:1, Leviticus 19:6, Matthew 26:59-60).

4. APPLICATION:
Brethren, there are joys on the mountain. Let us strive to climb up to the mountain of the Lord. Know that for you to get to the mountain of the Lord you must do the following preparations:

A. Engage yourself in complete detachment from the world's system. That does not mean that you're not in the world anymore, but that you're not of the world anymore (John 17:15, 1John 2:15-17, James 4:4).

B. Let the totality of your personality (Mind,Will, Emotion and Body ) be renewed  (Romans12:1-2, John3:3,5,7, Galatians 2:20).

C. Heed the solemn call of your Lord asking you come up hither (Revelation 4:1). Waste no time, do not delay, respect the urgency of time, for the time is short and shall soon be off.
May the Lord of the mountain hold your hands and lift you to the mountain of glory and honour. Amen.

HOPE AND FAITH IN THE MIDST OF CORONA VIRUS

I am glad and grateful to the living, all knowing, all seeing, all powerful and ever present God through His immaculate son, Jesus Christ the preserver and the savior of the world for keeping you and me safe in the midst of the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic.
It is my candid desire to send this encouraging message to you all, knowing truly well that this is a global virus which is currently shaking the entire world, irrespective of the global technological and scientific prowess. The entire world is being intimidated, afflicted, inflicted, affected and devastated by the so-called Covid-19.
Like the time of Habakkuk which was a difficult time, a time of hopelessness, and a moment of lips quivering and trembled body, yet, he determined to rejoice in the Lord and had a very undeterred joy in the God of his salvation; making God his strength, asking God to make his feet like deer’s feet so as to walk on his high hills, (Habakkuk 3: 16-19).
In like manner, I write to encourage you in particular and the entire Christian world in general to develop an unflinching hope and faith in God’s ability to conquer the virus called Corona, without asking why and how long will God allow all these things to happen in the world.
Like the hymn of faith lyrically presented by Habakkuk (3: 17), we can equally with all sense of hope and faith say:
Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail and the fields shall yield no meat; the flocks shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation (3:17-18).
I want you to know that although there is a sit down at home order from the government, although there is no money, no food, no liberty to go out and find ends meet, although there are deaths in the city, armed robbery rocking the nation’s boat, yet we will continue to trust the able God and continue to rejoice in him.
Remember that from time immemorial, shut down has been in existence, and it is for the safety, benefits and security of God’s people. It is meant for the refuge from contracting the virus; in the day of prophet Isaiah in chapter 26 verse 20, God instructed the prophet to prophesy and he prophesied as directed.

"Come my people enter your chamber (Rooms) and shut your doors behind you; Hide yourself, as it were, For a little moment, until the indignation is past."
And the prophet had narrated the specific reason for the indignation, predicament as in (Isaiah 26: 21),
“For behold, the LORD comes out of HIS place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; The earth will also disclose her blood, And will no, more cover her slain.”

Fellow Christians, this message becomes vital to us so as to examine our lives and amend our ways, turn to God for refuge and salvation.
The world is full of all sorts of wickedness such as bloodletting, ritualism, backstabbing, selfishness, idolatrous practices, moral decadence to mention but this few, so, these warrant God’s wrath on all unrighteousness (Romans 1:18-32). Let’s repent from all unrighteousness and turn to God of righteousness, and be sanctified unto Him. Having done that, we shall be able to stand protected, preserved and covered with the immaculate blood of our saviour Jesus Christ against the contractual scourge of Coronavirus, known as Covid-19.
Remember God’s thoughts concerning you are not that of evil. Just make God your dwelling place, abide under the secret of the most high and His shadow. He remains the almighty and not the virus (Jeremiah 29: 11 and Psalm 91).
Make sure you observe the precautionary measures that are put in place by the World Health Organization, (WHO), the NCDC and the Nigeria nation, particularly the hand washing, sanitizing and social distancing. Discard the myths and know that Covid-19 is deadly.
Stay at home, and stay safe prayerfully. Although, people are having the feeling that the Church is shutdown, which is wrong. It is rather the building that is shutdown temporarily, and not the Church. The Church is organism and not infrastructures.
God bless you all.

THIS IS A MESSAGE TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH, NIGERIA, OJO ALABA INTERNATIONAL AREA, LAGOS,
From the Area Superintendent, Pastor Dr. J.O.D. Ekele, JP, Cert, Dcs, BA.Ed, BA,MA,Dmin.
